On May 23 ThyssenKrupp Krause celebrated the relocation and expansion of the apprentice training shop in Bremen under the heading “High-quality training is an investment in the future”.

The training units for machinists and industrial mechanics have been combined in the new workshop and the overall area expanded from 300 to 450 square meters. For practical work the future skilled employees have an extensive range of modern machine tools. The company also intends to hire out the training shop for limited periods to other companies. “We wish to cooperate with companies which lack training facilities” says supervisor André Graf.

During a tour of the shop, the visitors, including representatives of vocational training schools and HR managers of other Bremen companies, were shown some of the skills the apprentices have learned. Pascal Grünheid, a second-year apprentice machinist, explains why he applied to ThyssenKrupp Krause: “I always wanted to work with my hands and do something with metal. I applied to ThyssenKrupp Krause because I’d only ever heard good things about the company.”

Managing director Dr. Joachim Haats says that apprentices trained within the company are a high priority: “Apprenticeship training is security for the future. This year we will recruit 21 new apprentices - a significant increase on last year, when we only had nine,” says Dr. Haats.
