BLOHM + VOSS REPAIR
Space for more passengers

Stretched | The BRAEMAR with the new mid section already in place.

The Blohm + Voss Repair team has begun work on another major order in the shape of the cruise ship BRAEMER. On May 13, 2008 the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines ship checked into the ELBE 17 dry dock at the Hamburg shipyard where it is to be lengthened by over 30 meters.

On completion of the work, the cruise liner’s capacity will increase from 900 to 950 passengers. The new mid section, measuring 31.20 meters in length, 22.50 meters in width and weighing around 2,250 tons, was built by Bremerhavener Schichau Seebeckwerft under a subcontract with Blohm + Voss. It was towed to the shipyard in early April 2008.

As well as fitting the new mid section, the order includes the installation of 18 balconies, the complete refurbishment of the restaurant on Deck 8 and the construction/modernization of various public areas.

The new-look BRAEMER will leave the shipyard for a short test voyage at the beginning of July 2008 and subsequently head for Southampton, where she will be handed over to her owners.
