THYSSENKRUPP PRESTA ILSENBURG’S TENTH ANNIVERSARY
World leader from the Harz region

“ThyssenKrupp Presta Ilsenburg has played a major role in making Saxony-Anhalt an excellent location for automotive suppliers,” said Saxony-Anhalt Minister of Economics Dr. Reiner Haseloff at the ceremony to mark the camshaft specialist’s tenth anniversary. “Thank you for having the courage to locate your company’s headquarters here, a move that has further strengthened the economic power and image of our state.” The minister’s congratulations were the latest highlight in the company’s incredible success story.

World No. 1
At the start-up of production on September 28, 1998, nobody could have imagined what would be achieved in Ilsenburg in just ten years. The manufacture of assembled camshafts started with just eight employees. Today some 450 employees, including 15 apprentices, turn out around 8.5 million assembled camshafts each year for numerous OEMs from Germany and abroad. With the support of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, the administrative district authority and the Ilsenburg municipality, optimum conditions were created in terms of infrastructure and skilled employees to establish the site at the foot of the Brocken Mountain. Today over 50 million vehicles worldwide feature camshafts “made in Ilsenburg”. This makes Ilsenburg the world’s no. 1 camshaft production plant.

“You should all be very proud!”
For ThyssenKrupp Executive Board member Dr. Wolfram
Mörsdorf this was reason enough to thank all those involved. “The value added in all business areas has grown continuously. Ilsenburg has established itself as a center of excellence for assembled camshafts. It is therefore no wonder that today the ThyssenKrupp Group’s entire camshaft activities with further sites in Chemnitz, Liechtenstein, the USA and China are managed from Ilsenburg. None of this would have been possible without the strong commitment of all those involved - the management, the works council and the workforce. I would like to thank everyone for the magnificent achievements of the past ten years. You should all be very proud!”

Frank Altag, ThyssenKrupp Presta Ilsenburg GmbH managing director, spells out the three keystones of the company’s success: “The right location, ideal conditions and highly motivated employees. There’s a great spirit of togetherness here.”

Success story continues
What started out as a small manufacturing line for the customer Volkswagen Salzgitter has grown into a major production operation. The plant has been expanded over the past ten years and now covers 60,000 square meters.

It is not only the largest but also the most modern camshaft production plant in the world. But the people in Ilsenburg are not resting on their laurels. Dr. Mörsdorf: “An additional building next to the plant has already been acquired and further expansion steps are planned. I wish good luck to all those involved. I am in no doubt at all that they will continue to work with the same enjoyment and commitment in the future.” Frank Altag agrees: “I’m sure that this success story will continue!”

At the company’s ten-year anniversary celebration, ThyssenKrupp Presta Ilsenburg was presented with the state’s coveted award "Success story - made in Saxony-Anhalt” by Economics Minister Dr. Reiner Haseloff.
