Dubai has developed into one of the Gulf regions major business centers in recent years. Headline-hitting mega-projects are completed here in no time and the infrastructure is constantly growing. Its geographical location makes Dubai the ideal hub between the markets of Europe and Asia.
To take part in the dynamic growth and establish a presence close to its customers, Technologies has set up the TechCenter Middle East in Dubai.
The TechCenter was officially opened at the beginning of 2008 on the 24th floor of the Dubai Festival Tower in a newly developed maritime district of the city (see also interview on page 24). The office is easily accessible from all areas of the city and has optimum links to the international airport, which is just around ten minutes drive away. Jürgen Gerhards was appointed head of the TechCenter as of May 1. The TechCenter will mainly be used by Uhde, Polysius, Fördertechnik and the shipyards as a base from which to develop business in the region, but all other Group companies are also free to use the facilities.
With the support of ThyssenKrupp Real Estate an office concept has been realized which incorporates ideas from the design of the new ThyssenKrupp Quarter in Essen: A largely transparent office landscape with flexible workplace solutions and ultramodern infrastructure to meet the individual requirements of its users. Close to Technologies new office at Dubai Creek, a modern shopping and cultural center known as "Festival City is also being built. An office tower, two international hotels and a shopping mall have already been completed. |
